Memory lane
Jacob looked at the kneeling man then to all who was gathered. He
raised a hand then spoke. “Witness if you will, the power of your leader.”
He looked back down at the man and said softly. “Fear me not, I will not
harm you.”
The raised hand began to glow. Dimly at first, then becoming brilliantly
bright. Jacob then lowered the hand down and placed it upon Jefrick’s
head. Gasps and whispers exploded throughout the crowd. Everyone
watched including Kel’fla, Ella, and Trayenne…all in amazement.
Images rushed through Jacob’s mind as his body twitched lightly. A room he
saw, well lit with tables placed here and there. There were tubes, lines, and
beakers sitting neatly and in an orderly fashion upon the tables. A few
people floated back and forth busy doing their ownthings. An image of
Jefrick flashed by. There…yes…the crystal in question sat on a table next
to a pile of papers. The man picked it up and it glowed so brightly that he
could sense a warmth coming from the item. Jefrick dabbed it with a few
things then made some notes. A hand from behind
grabbed…fear…panic…the room filled with a bright light. The crystal was
gone.
The brightness in Jacob’s hand diminished and returned to its normal
soft glow. He looked as if he may faint as he stumbled back a few steps.
The feelings, the emotions, the fears, the pleasantries…in a flash he knew
everything there was to know about the man. He slowly regained himself
and opened his eyes. Looking at all who was gathered, he smiled gracefully
and then turned his attention back to the two men. Looking directly at
Jefrick he said, “This man…speaks the truth.”
